The Kauaʻi Marine Program Manager (KMPM) is a new position created to add capacity for marine conservation on Kauaʻi. The KMPM will build relationships with local communities and partners, and scope and develop marine conservation strategies in collaboration with partners, in alignment with community needs and with TNC's plans, strategies and goals. The KMPM will support and advance community-led management towards goals such as reducing land-based pollution, building capacity for reef restoration and response, and improving science and understanding of the marine and coastal environment and fisheries management.
The KMPM will work closely with and build trust and relationships across community, government and technical sectors, work with a team to secure public and private funding for the work, and advance solutions that meet defined needs.
The KMPM will work with partners to advance collaborative, often complex, cross-sector projects on Kauaʻi by addressing critical threats to environmental systems and individual species. They will coordinate closely with TNC staff working to address similar issues across other islands, as well as the Kauaʻi Terrestrial Team, to foster cross-site learning and align efforts. The position will be based on Kauaʻi.
This will be a two-year termed position.
