American Traveler is seeking an experienced OB RN for a fast-filling antepartum/L&D/postpartum/nursery position in Hawaii, requiring a minimum of 2 years of L&D and couplet care experience along with HI RN licensure.
Requirements- Active Hawaii (HI) RN license required
- Certifications required: BLS/BCLS, ACLS, NRP, and STABLE
- Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery and couplet care (postpartum/nursery) experience required
- Experience with antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, and high-risk OB care required
- Must have Nursery experience, including well baby, phototherapy, and Special Care Nursery
- Proficiency in starting adult and neonatal IVs and performing adult and neonatal Accu-checks required
- Skills required include: PKU on newborns, APGAR scoring, bulb suctioning, DeLee suctioning, neonatal resuscitation, and circumcision assistance
- Experience administering and titrating Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, and Insulin drips required
- Ability to monitor and interpret fetal heart rate, manage IUPC, ISE, amnioinfusion, and assist with ECV required
- Experience assisting with epidural/intrathecal administration, monitoring PCA pumps, and recovering post-C-section and BTL patients required
- Small 5-bed OB unit covering Antepartum, Labor and Delivery, Postpartum, Nursery, and Outpatient Testing
- High-risk obstetric patient population including PIH, placenta abruption, prolapsed cord, placenta previa, VBAC, GDM, PTL, and PROM
- Well baby, phototherapy, and Special Care Nursery patients also within scope of care
- Observation and NST (non-stress test) patients are part of the caseload
- Equipment includes Avalon fetal monitoring, Pyxis, Ohmeda Infant Warmer, Neopuff, Oxygen Blender, Bilibed, Neo Blue phototherapy bed, OUR 365 newborn photo system, Echo screen newborn hearing, SCD machine, and adult/neonatal crash carts
- Facility uses paper charting
- 12-hour shifts on a varied schedule; nights preferred but candidate must be flexible to work any shift
- Floating to other departments may be required during census decreases
- 13-week contract
- Orientation consists of two days:
Day 1 covers HR onboarding, safety, risk and quality management, and IT orientation (begins at 10 AM);
Day 2 is dedicated to EMR training - Orientation is non-billable
- Must be available to work 80 hours per 2-week pay period — no exceptions
- First-time travelers are not mentioned as being considered; strong clinical breadth across all OB sub-specialties is expected given the small unit size
- COVID-19 vaccination is not required for this position
