Job Summary

The Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department is responsible for providing skilled nursing care to patients in urgent and critical conditions. This role requires at least two years of Emergency Department experience and involves patient assessments, medication administration, treatment planning, and collaboration with interdisciplinary teams. The nurse will also float to Long Term Care or ICU departments as needed, ensuring high-quality care across multiple settings.

Responsibilities
  • Perform comprehensive patient assessments and monitor vital signs.
  • Administer medications and treatments according to established protocols.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement patient care plans.
  • Provide emergency care and assist in critical interventions within the Emergency Department.
  • Float to Long Term Care or ICU departments as required to support staffing needs.
  • Document patient care activities accurately and timely in medical records.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and communicate patient status effectively.
Required Skills & Certifications
  • Active Registered Nurse license in the state of practice.
  • Minimum of two years' experience working in an Emergency Department.
  • Strong clinical assessment, medication administration, and treatment planning skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-stress environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing or related field preferred.
Preferred Skills & Certifications
  • Experience in ICU, Long Term Care, or other acute care settings.
  • Certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
  • Additional specialty certifications related to emergency nursing.
Special Considerations
  • Mandatory variable shifts including AM (7:00-19:00) and PM (19:00-7:00) with 80 hours over a two-week period.
  • Shift options include 8-hour day, evening, or night shifts, with openness to 12-hour shifts.
  • Strict adherence to the target start date with no exceptions.
  • Flexibility to float to Long Term Care or ICU departments as needed.
Scheduling
  • Work schedule includes variable shifts covering day, evening, and night hours.
  • Typically 80 hours over a two-week period, averaging 40 hours per week.
  • Shifts may be 8 or 12 hours in length, with mandatory coverage requirements.
