Plantation Maintenance and Conservation Field Technician

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES- Primarily general eucalyptus plantation maintenance under close supervision by a Field Supervisor and/or Project Manager, and assist with other company projects as needed
- Effectively communicate with Field Supervisor, Project Manager, and Field Technicians about schedules, equipment status, field observations, potential hazards, and team dynamics
- Training and safe operation of hand equipment such as chainsaws, electric trimmers, loppers, etc.
- Training and safe operation of machinery including track loaders, tractors, utility vehicles, etc.
- Training and safe application of fertilizers and herbicides
- Maintenance, proper storage, and applicable tracking of all hand equipment, machinery, and hazardous materials
- Executing daily and weekly goals regarding coppicing, cleaning fields, application of fertilizers/herbicides, etc. as directed by the Field Supervisor and Project Managers
- Regularly properly wearing Personal Protective Equipment and maintaining a safe work environment
- Completing requisite data collection, reporting, and HR forms including timesheets in a timely manner
- Becoming proficient in Human Resources platform (complete timesheets, access employee handbook, etc.)
- Valid driver's license (or acquire within 3 months of hiring) and a clean driving record
- Reliable vehicle with understanding that driving within or between project sites is required
- Follow directions while working in small groups or independently
- Willing and able to perform physically challenging work in potentially extreme outdoor conditions daily
- Ability to lift and carry a minimum of 50 pounds
- Normal work weeks are composed of eight (8) hour days, Monday through Friday with a 30-minute lunch break.
- Employees should plan to start work at the project site by 7:00am and expect to end each day at about 3:30pm.
- Due to the nature of field work, inclement weather may cause unsafe or unworkable conditions. In the event the Field Supervisor calls a Rain Day, the employee will receive two (2) hours of paid compensation for that day.
- Paid federal holidays are observed and detailed in the employee handbook.
Dependent on experience/qualifications and project (minimum starting: $18 - $25 per hour)
