Position SummaryUnder general supervision, performs fairly complex sub‑professional duties and/or supervises pest control aid in support of higher‑level professional pest control activities. The incumbent may perform other duties as required.
Responsibilities- Assist in laboratory procedures related to insect and plant pest control.
- Propagate host insects or plants and record data.
- Manipulate insects and related arthropods for identification and curation.
- Use microscopes and micro‑tools for extended periods with breaks.
- Follow safety protocols, wear personal protective equipment, and handle hazardous chemicals.
- Primarily indoors in laboratory; may work outdoors under varying weather.
- May be required to work overtime, weekends, holidays, or travel for training and meetings.
- Exposure to strong odors, fumes, and regulated chemicals may occur.
- General experience: three (3) years of progressively responsible work requiring reading, comprehension, oral & verbal communication skills.
- Specialized experience: two (2) years in insect or plant pest control using standard laboratory procedures.
- Non‑qualifying experience: laboratory tasks limited to caring for supplies and equipment (e.g., washing test tubes) are not considered.
- Substitutions allowed as per Minimum Qualification Requirements.
- Must be able to lift and carry items of various weights with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license at the time of appointment.

Salary$3,606 to $4,563 per month (SR‑11, Step C to I). Hiring rates will be based on availability of funds and applicant qualifications.
