Animal Trainer - Apprentice (Part Time)

• Perform apprentice‑level duties for the care and training of each animal.
• Prepare and administer food safely and appropriately.
• Maintain sanitation and distribution of food.
• Acquire knowledge of basic training terminology and vocabulary.
• Use training approximations effectively.
• Acquire knowledge of proper animal husbandry practices.
• Identify each animal by name.
• Understand each animal’s history and background.
• Learn safe and proper handling, restraint, and transportation of animals.
• Participate in public presentations and perform in shows for audience interaction.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• College degree in a related field is preferred but not required.
• Previous experience in animal care or training is preferred (e.g., internship, volunteer work at a zoo or aquarium, seasonal or full‑time work in animal care or training).
