The Grooming Salon Leader’s main purpose is to lead and manage salon operations and team members, delivering a high level of customer satisfaction, fostering a positive work environment, driving salon performance, and developing and coaching both entry‑level and seasoned groomers. The Grooming Salon Leader also performs expert‑level grooming services while prioritizing the safety, comfort and well‑being of the pets.

• Oversee day‑to‑day operations, ensuring efficient workflows, optimizing scheduling and capacity, managing inventory and staffing plans.
• Recruit, hire, train and supervise grooming staff; provide coaching, feedback and performance evaluations.
• Create and manage efficient grooming schedules that optimize salon capacity and accommodate customer demand.
• Monitor salon performance metrics such as revenue, customer satisfaction and partner productivity; analyze data, identify areas for improvement and develop action plans.
• Collaborate with store management to achieve sales targets and salon objectives.
• Interact professionally with pet parents, provide exceptional customer service and grooming recommendations.
• Stay abreast of grooming industry trends and best practices.
• Perform professional grooming services: bathing, drying, brushing, haircuts, styling, nail trimming, ear cleaning, gland cleaning per pet parent instructions and company policies.
• Operate and maintain grooming instruments.
• Assess individual pet needs and recommend maintenance and home‑care practices to pet parents.
• Ensure animal well‑being and safety; report concerns promptly.
• Maintain a clean, safe grooming area; disinfect and sanitize tools and equipment; perform daily and weekly cleaning duties.
• Adhere to Petco grooming policies, standards and guidelines; hold salon team members accountable for safety and quality.

• 2+ years’ experience as a professional groomer and/or completion of a technical grooming program.
• Strong leadership skills with 1–2 years of salon management or related field experience (preferred).
• High‑school diploma or GED (preferred).
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Expert knowledge of dog breeds, grooming requirements, health issues and behaviors.
• Expert‑level proficiency in breed‑specific cuts, styling techniques and grooming standards.
• Passion for animals and desire to pursue a career in pet grooming.

• Strong decision‑making and problem‑solving skills.
• Results‑driven mentality focused on salon productivity, performance, growth and improvement.
• Strong attention to detail and ensure grooming services meet highest standards.
• Capable of handling pets of all sizes and temperaments with care and empathy.
• Available to work full‑time, at least 35 hours per week, including weekends, evenings and holidays as required by the salon schedule.

Job duties performed indoors in the grooming salon. Requires bending, kneeling, lifting (up to 30 lbs), standing for long periods. May involve exposure to heights using a two‑step ladder or other support tools. Work can be noisy and wet.

Hourly or salary range: $15.00 – $30.00 per hour, subject to state‑specific minimum wage regulations.
