Short or Long-Term Opportunities
Ever dreamed about living in Hawai‘i? Looking for a change and a role where you can practice thoughtful, hands‑on medicine in a truly unique setting?
We're looking for our next awesome doctor to join our team!
Ideally, we're looking for a full‑time associate who is excited to become a long‑term member of our team. However, we're ultimately looking for the right person, and we're open to exploring different arrangements, including part‑time opportunities.
While we're not seeking traditional relief coverage, we recognize that relocating to an island is a big decision. We're open to discussing more flexible arrangements with doctors who want the opportunity to experience both our practice and island life before making a longer‑term commitment. We envision this as a commitment measured in months rather than weeks, typically 6–12 months. This could be the perfect opportunity to spend meaningful time on Kaua‘i, become part of a close‑knit community, and decide whether island living is right for you.
Location& Lifestyle
Kaua‘i offers a rural, remote, outdoor lifestyle with incredible natural beauty and a strong sense of community, along with the realities of island living.
Kaua‘i is a unique place to live and practice, and for the right person, it offers an incredibly rewarding lifestyle and career opportunity.
Why We Love Working HereKauai North Shore Animal Clinic is a privately owned small animal practice located in Kilauea on Kauai's beautiful north shore.
We're a systems‑oriented practice that values structure, efficiency, and clear communication while still maintaining the flexibility, connection, and autonomy that come with a privately owned hospital.
- Your clinical thinking matters.
- You are trusted to practice independently and make decisions.
- The systems around you are designed to support excellent, progressive medicine.
We take pride in how we operate, how we communicate, and the level of care we provide.
Our hospital combines modern, efficient veterinary medicine with a truly unique island setting. We practice in a beautifully restored historic stone building filled with natural light, mountain views, and a calm, welcoming atmosphere for both clients and patients.
We're guided by our core values of Compassion, Integrity, Excellence, and Teamwork, and we're committed to providing exceptional, timely medical care while building meaningful relationships with our clients, patients, and community.
We were also the first Fear Free Certified Practice in the state of Hawaii, and that philosophy remains central to how we practice.
For us, Fear Free means:
- Listening to our patients and meeting them, and their owners, where they are.
- Actively working to reduce fear, anxiety, and stress through handling, the environment, and appropriate pharmaceuticals.
- Creating an experience where patients tolerate care better, we can accomplish more, and the team feels better at the end of the day.
This is a practice that values both excellent medicine and the people providing it, and we genuinely love the way we get to practice here.
Island Medicine (The Real Version)Kauai is incredible, and it's also remote. That reality shapes both how we practice medicine and how we work together as a team.
We're a small, collaborative, hands‑on practice where teamwork is part of our culture. We believe that everyone's voice matters.
We genuinely enjoy working together, supporting one another, and working in a practice where collaboration is the expectation rather than the exception. And sometimes, that simply means lending an extra set of hands during a busy moment.
We currently operate as a single‑doctor practice, but we're excited to build a strong, collaborative doctor team. We're looking forward to adding another experienced veterinarian who enjoys managing cases confidently and appreciates having a colleague to discuss challenging cases with when needed.
There is no emergency or 24/7 hospital on Kauai, and there are no full‑time specialists or advanced referral centers available locally.
We do refer cases to Oahu when appropriate, but referral requires air travel and…
