This position is located in the Livestock Disease Control Branch, Animal Industry Division of the Department of Agriculture, and is responsible for conducting medical, scientific, regulatory activities in the detection, control, and/or eradication of animal diseases, including executing USDA-Hawaii Department of Agriculture Cooperative Agreement Work Plans.

Duties and responsibilities include:

• planning, scheduling and conducting veterinary field work in connection with State and cooperative State-Federal-Industry animal disease control and eradication programs;
• responding to calls from practicing veterinarians, livestock and poultry producers for assistance in investigating disease outbreaks;
• enforcement of regulations, including those governing interstate and inter-island movement of animals;
• implementation of emergency disease control plans and other program activities;
• and performing other related duties as assigned.
