Biological Science Technician; Invasive Species Strike Team

Join the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Kaua'i National Wildlife Refuge Complex, located on the island of Kauai in the state of Hawai'i. This Biological Science Technician (Invasive Species Strike Team) position supports the Kauai National Wildlife Refuge Complex, which consists of three wildlife refuges
- Hanalei, Huleia, and Kilauea Point.

At the full performance level (GS-07) the major duties of this position include, but are not limited to the following:
Assist in the planning and implementation of surveys and inventories of invasive species, recommending management practices. Assist in planning multi-faceted studies by contributing to research methods and field procedures. Monitor and assist in planning and implementation of invasive species control measures. Apply Integrated Pest Management techniques including the safe use of pesticides, herbicides, and firearms, to control invasive plant and animal species.

Assist in the preparation of integrated pest management plans. Provide technical information and training on invasive species control and management. Develop databases and prepare reports using standard statistical methods and procedures. Enter and retrieve data from GIS, other information management systems. Develop and prepares maps, charts, and technical materials using GIS and computer software. Operate field equipment, vehicles, watercraft, and specialized tools required for biological and habitat management activities.

Provide work direction and guidance to staff, volunteers, and conservation crews. Communicate effectively with team members, partner agencies, and the public to coordinate fieldwork and convey technical information.
