Position Summary

The Meat Clerk & Pricer prepares, packs, prices and displays meat products while maintaining high standards for quality, sanitation and customer service. This hands‑on position supports daily meat department operations by receiving deliveries, rotating inventory, stocking display cases, and keeping work and storage area clean and organized.

Responsibilities

Wrap, weigh, label and accurately price meat products.

Stock and organize refrigerated and frozen display cases.

Rotate products and monitor quality, sell‑by dates and storage temperatures.

Receive, inspect and properly store incoming meat deliveries.

Keep displays attractive, full, and easy for customers to shop.

Maintain clean and sanitary work areas, equipment, floor and pricing machines.

Follow Health Department requirements, including proper glove use and handwashing.

Monitor packing and department supplies, communicate replenishment needs.

Assist customers in person and by phone with product questions and general meat information.

Safely move, lift, push and pull merchandise throughout the shift.

Support other department duties and special projects as assigned.

What to Expect

This is a fast‑pace, physically active position that requires strong attention to detail, time‑management skills, and a commitment to food safety. Team members work in refrigerated areas, handle packaged meat products, and complete multiple responsibilities throughout the shift.

Physical and Scheduling Requirements

Stand and walk for the full scheduled shift.

Regularly lift and carry up to 50 pounds; heavy items require assistance or approved equipment.

Able to bend, squat, kneel, reach, push, and pull.

Able to work in refrigerated, wet, humid and occasionally heated environments.

Operate equipment only when properly trained and authorized.

Maintain schedule flexibility based on business needs.

A TB test is required for this position.

Maintain department uniform, grooming, personal hygiene and sanitation standards.
