Position Summary

The Senior Therapeutic Area Specialist (TAS) plays a critical role in BMS’s unique customer model, promoting the company’s cardiovascular medicines and driving adoption of new and existing products with health‑care providers (HCPs). The TAS engages HCPs with a differentiated customer experience, delivers scientific dialogue aligned with label information, and supports appropriate, safe use of BMS products while achieving business results.

Key Responsibilities Portfolio Promotion
  • Promote approved indications of BMS products statewide to meet or exceed sales targets in a compliant manner.
  • Create demand for BMS medicines by clearly communicating clinical and scientific rationale for use in appropriate patients.
  • Maintain and grow scientific expertise across all assigned products and therapeutic areas.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive territory and account plans.
  • Use tools such as SOPHIA to derive insights and inform call plans dynamically.
  • Provide feedback on tool usage to leadership to enable continuous improvement.
Fair & Balanced Scientific Dialogue
  • Demonstrate scientific expertise using approved resources and publications, ensuring medical accuracy.
  • Conduct in‑office presentations (e.g., lunch and learns) and discuss product‑related information with HCPs consistent with label.
  • Organize external speaker programs, selecting speakers from an approved list and handling scheduling and logistics.
  • Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of emerging data for approved indications.
  • Engage real‑time medical support through Medical on Call to address unsolicited questions and technical inquiries.
Cross‑functional Collaboration
  • Collaborate proactively with other field teams to enhance the customer experience for HCPs.
  • Share insights and information internally with stakeholders to better serve customers.
  • Comply with all laws, regulations, and BMS policies governing conduct.
Required Qualifications & Experience
  • Advanced scientific degree and/or 5+ years of pharmaceutical or biotechnology experience (sales, MSL, HCP, nurse).
  • Ability to communicate scientific or clinical data accurately and convincingly to physicians.
  • Experience building and maintaining credibility with key customers, office staff, and members of the customer influence network.
  • Experience in cardiovascular preferred.
  • Strong account management skills with a proven sales performance record.
  • Strong selling and promotional skills demonstrated through performance.
  • Effective cross‑functional teamwork and a can‑do attitude.
