Position Summary
The Senior Therapeutic Area Specialist (TAS) plays a critical role in BMS’s unique customer model, promoting the company’s cardiovascular medicines and driving adoption of new and existing products with health‑care providers (HCPs). The TAS engages HCPs with a differentiated customer experience, delivers scientific dialogue aligned with label information, and supports appropriate, safe use of BMS products while achieving business results.
Key Responsibilities Portfolio Promotion- Promote approved indications of BMS products statewide to meet or exceed sales targets in a compliant manner.
- Create demand for BMS medicines by clearly communicating clinical and scientific rationale for use in appropriate patients.
- Maintain and grow scientific expertise across all assigned products and therapeutic areas.
- Develop and execute comprehensive territory and account plans.
- Use tools such as SOPHIA to derive insights and inform call plans dynamically.
- Provide feedback on tool usage to leadership to enable continuous improvement.
- Demonstrate scientific expertise using approved resources and publications, ensuring medical accuracy.
- Conduct in‑office presentations (e.g., lunch and learns) and discuss product‑related information with HCPs consistent with label.
- Organize external speaker programs, selecting speakers from an approved list and handling scheduling and logistics.
- Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of emerging data for approved indications.
- Engage real‑time medical support through Medical on Call to address unsolicited questions and technical inquiries.
- Collaborate proactively with other field teams to enhance the customer experience for HCPs.
- Share insights and information internally with stakeholders to better serve customers.
- Comply with all laws, regulations, and BMS policies governing conduct.
- Advanced scientific degree and/or 5+ years of pharmaceutical or biotechnology experience (sales, MSL, HCP, nurse).
- Ability to communicate scientific or clinical data accurately and convincingly to physicians.
- Experience building and maintaining credibility with key customers, office staff, and members of the customer influence network.
- Experience in cardiovascular preferred.
- Strong account management skills with a proven sales performance record.
- Strong selling and promotional skills demonstrated through performance.
- Effective cross‑functional teamwork and a can‑do attitude.

- Use CE^3 to generate insights and conduct dynamic call planning.
- Apply technology effectively in healthcare business interactions with HCPs.
- Use digital communication channels (email, instant messaging, video conferencing) to stay in touch with HCPs and colleagues.
- Competency using CE^3, other software or CRM tools for data entry, compliance, and interaction tracking.
- Utilize Medical on Call technology efficiently and keep abreast of technological advancements.
- Demonstrate strong business acumen to understand market drivers and develop business plans.
- Show learning agility by applying lessons from unfamiliar experiences.
