Aloha mai! Mahalo for your interest in Kamehameha Schools. We are seeking a motivated and committed Security Officer who prioritizes the safety and well‑being of our students, staff, and community.
Job SummaryProvides security services for students, faculty, staff, visitors, and facilities. Services include monitoring CCTV cameras, patrols of campus property, enforcing traffic and parking regulations, safety inspections, documenting incidents, supervising access to sacred sites, and directing visitors and delivery vehicles. The role requires prompt response to emergencies and maintaining a secure campus environment.
Essential Responsibilities- Maintain a safe and secure environment through vehicle and foot patrols, CCTV monitoring, and vigilance for unusual conditions or unauthorized personnel.
- Identify potential safety or criminal hazards, report and monitor to minimize risk.
- Oversee traffic flow, parking regulations, and crowd control at school events and special functions.
- Respond promptly to emergencies such as violence, intrusions, natural disasters, fires, assaults, or other crisis situations.
- Use de‑escalation techniques and defensive training as necessary to manage situations.
- Enforce entry restrictions, manage visitor and delivery access, and keep detailed records of campus entries and exits.
- Conduct safety inspections to ensure compliance with school security standards.
- Investigate and document traffic, criminal, and non‑criminal incidents and provide thorough written reports.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 1 year of related work experience.
- Valid Hawaii Driver's license and current driving abstract.
- Current DCCA Guard Employee License or ability to obtain within 60 days.
- Current First Aid, CPR, and AED certification or ability to obtain within 6 months.
- Ability to work independently and accommodate a rotational schedule, including 24/7 availability.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in computer applications for word processing, spreadsheets, and email, and able to operate CCTV systems.
- Competent typing and computer use for detailed incident reporting.
- At least 1 year of experience in a security, police, or emergency response role.
- Security experience within a K‑12 school environment.
- Knowledge of security‑related software and applications.
- Specialized training in crisis intervention, drone operation, defensive tactics, or similar programs.
- Frequent hand writing, standing, walking, and lifting or carrying objects up to 50 pounds.
- Sitting for desk‑based computer tasks and fine manipulation required.
- Frequent twisting, bending, stooping, squatting, kneeling, crawling, climbing, reaching above shoulder height, or gripping firmly.
- Travel to various locations, including neighboring islands.
- Work conducted in non‑standard, outdoor environments.
- Assignments may occur 24 hours/day, 7 days/week.
