Maintenance Journeyman Leader (Laundry)
Primary Responsibilities:
The Maintenance Journeyman Leader (Laundry) responsibilities include but are not limited to supervising, delegating assignments, and training of junior personnel under their direction. Is responsible for the proper maintenance and servicing of all equipment and laundry vehicles to attain maximum productivity and functionality in the plant operations. Assign junior maintenance personnel to repair and replace specific equipment and implement a routine preventive maintenance schedule for all equipment.
Is responsible for maintaining a current inventory and ordering all spare components and chemicals used within the laundry facility. Must have the ability to troubleshoot and repair a multitude of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems, including extensive knowledge of electricity and PLC circuitry. Must be able to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and engineering drawings from an array of manufacturers.
Will be required to maintain and operate two industrial-size boilers and their respective supporting components, i.e., feed water system, soft water system, and steam traps. The employee in this role must have strong communication, observational, and operational skills with an unbending focus on safety.
Essential Duties
- Perform major maintenance and repairs of laundry equipment, including welding and fabricating.
- Responsibly follow all procedures & policies regarding repairs and maintenance.
- Responsible for completing assigned tasks and projects in a highly effective, efficient, and safe manner.
- Works in conjunction with operations to keep equipment operating at a high level of efficiency.
- Review all work orders and determine priorities for the week.
- Assign tasks or work orders to the Laundry Engineering Team under their direction.
- Ensure that all work is performed to our standards by monitoring proper equipment functions and repairs.
- Establish PM schedules of equipment for the laundry facility under your direction.
- Research and order parts and materials.
- Working knowledge of all OSHA, safety, building codes, and laws pertaining to their trade.
- Direct and train lower-graded personnel under their field or scope of work.
- Able to communicate well with vendors, contractors, and manufacturers to troubleshoot, design, and build.
- Responsible for the proper use, maintenance, and care of tools and equipment.
- Able to do arc and wire feed welding.
- Lead or assist in special projects.
- Complete work assignments in a timely manner.
- Perform duties following safety procedures and policies.
- Maintains files and repair records.
- Communicate with staff and department heads to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Provides assistance to other crews as needed.
- Responds to after-hour emergencies as requested.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.
- Does periodic inventory.
- Assist the golf course maintenance staff as needed.
- Keep the shop and work area clean and orderly.
- The working environment is typical of an industrial facility, including noise and vibration. An employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and vibration. Personal Protective Equipment will be required for certain tasks.
- Must be able to work shifts and days determined by the manager.
- Must be able to work more than 40 hours per week, when needed.
- Truck or car with standard or automatic shift.
- Utility vehicle.
- Various hand tools to repair or service vehicles or equipment, such as screwdrivers, wrenches, pliers, hammers, exact knives, and chisels.
- Various hand power tools such as drills, power saws, and grinders.
- Welder.
- Pneumatic tools.
- Multimeter and/or motor megger.
- Ability to stand and walk while doing repairs, washing the vehicle, and getting tools.
