Position: Aircraft Mechanic 2 (CH-47/AH-64/UH-60 – NDI II) Wheeler AAF, HI - CBA
Location: Wheeler Army Airfield

Aircraft Mechanic 2 – CH-47/AH-64/UH-60 – NDI II

Responsibilities
  • Oversee and perform maintenance on helicopters per NDI II standards, following drawings, blueprints, directives, technical manuals, and safety procedures.
  • Inspect aerospace weapon system components and support equipment for structural integrity using nondestructive inspection methods; conduct fluid analysis.
  • Remove, install, and service aircraft subsystem assemblies (engines, rotors, gearboxes, transmissions, flight controls and components).
  • Service and lubricate aircraft and subsystems; prepare aircraft for inspections and maintenance checks.
  • Perform scheduled inspections and assist with special inspections and limited maintenance operational checks; diagnose and troubleshoot subsystems with special tools and equipment.
  • Oversee operator maintenance on tools, special tools, and aircraft ground support equipment.
  • Maintain forms and records related to aircraft maintenance; manage supplies and preventive maintenance.
  • Process parts, standardize equipment, and prepare parts for inspection or repair.
  • Interpret nondestructive inspection test results and provide defect information to repair centers.
  • Analyze metal content reports on lubricating oil and recommend corrective actions.
  • Develop and update written instructions and general procedures.
  • Provide guidance and supervision to Level I personnel and trainees in certified techniques.
  • Ensure lock‑out/tag‑out procedures are followed before equipment maintenance.
  • Handle hazardous waste and materials safely.
Minimum Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • U.S. military technical school or specialized training (certification required).
  • Valid, up‑to‑date A&P license (optional).
  • Three (3) years of aviation maintenance experience, including rotary‑wing aircraft experience.
  • Two (2) years on the assigned Mission Design Series (MDS) within the last six years.
  • Training in Non‑Destructive Inspection Level II (current qualifications required).
  • Driver’s License and ability to provide own tools/toolbox.
  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain a NACI(T1) Public Trust Security Clearance and facility credentials.
  • U.S. citizenship required for facility credentials.
  • Physical ability to work day, swing, night, and weekend shifts as required.
  • Ability to travel internationally and obtain a passport if required.
Knowledge & Skills
  • In‑depth knowledge of aircraft systems on the assigned MDS.
  • Advanced knowledge of unique aircraft tools (test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, hydraulic presses) and the Maintenance Allocation Chart.
  • Proficiency with technical publications and Logistics Information Systems.
  • Ability to prioritize workloads and maintain schedules on assigned projects.
  • Familiarity with codes, standards, and contractual documents governing NDI methods.
Physical Requirements /Working Environment
  • Walk, stand, and climb stairs, ramps, ladders, and work stands for extended periods.
  • Perform crouch, crawl, grasp, and fine‑dexterous tasks; reach above and below shoulders.
  • Lift, push, or pull objects up to and potentially exceeding 50 pounds.
  • Operate power tools, ground support equipment, forklifts, and machinery in a drafty, noisy, and dirty maintenance shop.
  • Pass a respirator fit test and use appropriate personal protective equipment.
  • Work in austere environments and all‑weather conditions as needed.
Compensation & Benefits

Hourly rate set by CBA: $92,830.40 – $44.63 – $48.27. Competitive benefits package includes 401(k), short‑ and long‑term disability, health, dental, vision, life insurance, FSA/HSA, paid holidays, tuition assistance, and employee wellness programs.
