Maintenance Mechanic - Oahu

This vacancy is with the Department of Transportation, Highways Division.

Independently performs skilled mechanical repair work in the adjustment, maintenance, and repair of a wide variety of machinery and equipment such as water pumps, mechanical laundry equipment, and continuing work assignments in accordance with diagrams. Other duties include inspection, repair, and conducting preventative maintenance on mechanical equipment in tunnels and on tunnel approaches; conducting and reporting on structural inspections of tunnels and viaducts;

reading operating manuals while following the manufacturer's specifications, basic trade practices, and other related duties as assigned.

The State of Hawaii requires all persons seeking employment with the government of the State to be citizens, nationals, or permanent resident aliens of the United States, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment in the United States.

Three (3) years of work experience in performing mechanical repair and maintenance of a wide variety of mechanical and electrical equipment, or an equivalent combination of experience and training.
