Job Overview

Amentum is seeking an Electronics Technician B for a position on Kauai, HI supporting the Range Communications Department. The role provides independent or supervised operational and maintenance support services to the Pacific Missile Range Facility (PMRF) customer.

Responsibilities
  • Set up, check‑out, operate, monitor, and maintain systems and equipment for Range Operations support.
  • Respond to evolving operational environment requirements upon direction.
  • Perform periodic inspections and maintenance tasks in accordance with published procedures and/or OEM guidelines.
  • Document results of all maintenance actions in systems and equipment records.
  • Perform troubleshooting and repair of systems/equipment by reading and interpreting electronic/mechanical schematics and using various tools and test equipment.
  • Install, check‑out, bench test, calibrate, and perform acceptance tests on new and relocated systems and equipment as directed.
  • Perform Communications Security (COMSEC) functions including accounting, loading, destruction, and courier services for classified cryptographic materials and items.
  • Maintain telecommunications inside cable plant and major battery backup systems.
  • Provide occasional travel for operations and maintenance support at other locations throughout the state of Hawaii, including extended periods at sea.
  • Perform other duties as required.
Work Environment & Physical Activities
  • Electronic shop and radio frequency field environments.
  • Operations Command & Control Center.
  • Travel to and from remote site locations, including at sea for extended periods.
  • Lift, carry, install, and remove electronics equipment and peripherals up to 50 lbs.
  • Climb elevated towers and work in sub‑floor areas and crawl spaces.
  • Lifting, pushing, and pulling over 50 lbs. (two‑men assist).
  • Occupations involving walking, standing, crawling, kneeling, confined spaces, sitting, repeated stooping, frequent climbing.
  • Customer contact, extended workday, confined work area, office laboratory, field assignment, inclement weather.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree or equivalent training (e.g., 2-year technical school or Navy “A” school specializing in Basic Electricity and Electronics Systems).
  • Soldering certificate or equivalent training included in curriculum.
  • Five years of progressive experience in a related field, with at least two years operating and maintaining telecommunications for voice, video, and data and related networking systems.
  • Experience with radio frequency (RF) systems including transmission and antenna systems for ground radio, microwave, satellite, and other telecommunication technologies.
  • Knowledge of telecommunications inside cable plant, main and intermediate distribution frames, and cable record keeping.
  • Proficiency in using and interpreting test equipment such as oscilloscopes, RF power meters, analyzers, multimeters, bit error rate testers, time‑domain reflectometers, toners/tracers.
  • Basic electricity and electronics theory with emphasis in telecommunications and network troubleshooting and repair.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting schematic diagrams.
  • Familiarity with the OSI 7‑layer model.
  • Experience with Windows and Linux operating systems.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with major battery backup and power distribution systems.
  • PC skills:
    Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Windows.
Security Clearance

Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. Government clearance. U.S. citizenship is required. Applicants must currently possess a Secret clearance or will undergo a security investigation to obtain clearance before commencing employment.

Compensation

Hourly rate: $47.84 (good‑faith estimate; actual compensation may vary based on responsibilities, education, experience, and other factors).
