Facilities Technician – Full Time
At NTBG, we are dedicated to a critical global mission: perpetuating tropical plants, ecosystems, and cultural heritage. We are seeking an experienced and motivated Facilities Technician to join our team at our Lāwaʻi Gardens. This position plays a vital role in the upkeep, maintenance, and repair of our facilities at both Allerton Garden, McBryde Garden, Visitor Center, and headquarters campus. Knowledge of irrigation systems and repair is essential.
This position helps ensure that our infrastructure safely and efficiently supports NTBG’s critical conservation work and visitor operations.
- Systems & Maintenance: Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair garden infrastructure, with a strong focus on the essential upkeep and repair of irrigation systems.
- Equipment Operation: Safely and proficiently operate a variety of machinery, ranging from handheld power tools to heavy equipment.
- Technical Trades: Execute specialized assignments utilizing a broad range of technical skills, including carpentry, electrical, plumbing, welding, and locksmithing.
- Operational Safety: Work independently with minimal supervision to complete physical tasks safely, while adapting to varying outdoor terrain and weather conditions.
- Proven experience using handheld power tools and operating heavy equipment safely and efficiently.
- Demonstration of various trade skills (irrigation, carpentry, electrical, plumbing, welding, or locksmithing).
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record (CDL endorsement is highly desired).
- Ability to obtain OSHA 10 and CPR/First Aid certifications within the required timeframe after hire.
- Physical capability to perform the demanding essential functions of the position in an outdoor environment.
