Job OverviewSocial Worker I positions can include supervising juvenile and adult law violators, conducting child custody evaluations, assisting protection order petitioners, and engaging families and communities in juvenile cases. The role may involve issues such as substance abuse, mental health, domestic violence, sexual assault, trafficking, child abuse and neglect, trauma, disputed child custody/visitation, victim restitution, and others.
Responsibilities- Perform simple social work tasks in accordance with defined policies and procedures and specific supervisory instructions.
- Prepare case records and reports.
- Conduct other duties as required.
- Provide opportunity to develop and practice a broad range of social work skills.
Graduation from an accredited four (4) year college or university with a bachelor’s degree including a minimum of twelve (12) semester credit hours in courses such as social work, social welfare, criminal justice, human services, counseling, psychology, sociology, or other related social sciences.
Graduation may be substituted with specialized work experience of equivalent scope, level, and quality on a year-for-year basis.
Experience RequirementProgressively responsible professional social work experience involving utilization of a variety of social work skills and exercising professional judgement in assisting individuals and families. This may include conducting assessments, developing and implementing treatment plans, working cooperatively with other professionals, evaluating client progress and adjusting plans as appropriate.
Special Requirements- Must possess a current and valid driver's license.

Applicants must not have engaged in sexual abuse in any detention facility or be subject of substantiated allegations.
Applicants who will graduate with a Bachelor’s degree with at least 12 semester credits in social science coursework may apply within three months prior to graduation. If selected, an original official transcript will be required.
