The Visitor Information Program Assistant II is responsible for speaking the designated language in addition to English while conversing with the traveling public and providing interpreter services as required. This position includes duties of the next lower level of the series.
Salary$3,471 to $4,388 per month (SR-10, Steps C - I) Level II. Hiring rates based on availability of funds, applicant qualifications, and other relevant factors.
Shift ScheduleApplicants must be willing and able to work rotating shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Qualifications- Basic Experience Requirement:
Demonstrated ability to read, understand, and follow oral and written instructions, with a high degree of verbal skill. May be met by part‑time or unpaid continuous work experience, or by possessing a high school diploma or equivalent. - General
Experience:
At least one year of work experience that demonstrates patience, tact, and an even temperament in dealing with others. Examples include hospitality or customer service with the traveling public. Substitutions allowed:
Completion of 15 semester credit hours of coursework (equivalent to six months of general experience) with at least 3 semester credit hours in psychology, sociology, social work, or another behavioral science. - Special Language Requirement:
Ability to speak one of the following languages in addition to English — Japanese, Mandarin, Korean, Tagalog, Hawaiian, Samoan, Spanish, or French. - SIDA Clearance: A federal criminal history check is required for access to secured areas. Applicants must not have a disqualifying conviction within ten years from the date of application.
- Shift work:
Rotating shifts, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
