Job Summary The Residential Specialist (Non Driver) for the Safe House program is a full‑time, 40‑hour per week non‑exempt position. The Specialist performs essential functions under the supervision of the Program Director and is responsible for the upkeep of the facility to meet program and licensing standards. The Safe House provides services to adolescent males, offering residents a continuum of services and activities while in placement.
The Specialist supports program goals through the essential functions listed below.
Minimum & Essential Qualifications
High school graduate.At least 3 years of experience working with troubled or at‑risk youth, or 3 years in a residential and/or social service setting, or a combination of both.Valid State .Valid TB clearance and pre‑employment medical clearance.Valid First Aid and CPR certification.DHS, FBI/Criminal History and CAN cleared.Desired Qualifications
Associate's degree in human services or related field; or two years college‑level study in human services and one year experience with juveniles; or a Bachelor's degree in human services or related field.Completion of Professional Residential Child Care and Youth Care Certification.Other relevant certifications or trainings completed.Essential Functions
Maintain facility upkeep and report unmet conditions to the Program Manager.Coordinate group program activities after school, on weekends, holidays, and vacation with the Program Manager.Ensure proper supervision and monitoring of all resident clients during assigned shifts.Maintain resident and program files.Adhere to program protocols and procedures.Monitor resident service contracts and coordinate with agencies involved during placement.Ensure consistent meeting of resident and program needs; report staff training needs to the Program Manager.Accompany staff driver when transporting residents to and from school, job, and appointments.Complete required daily reports and consultations for each resident.Monitor phone calls, visitors, workers, and parents; handle emergencies and crisis calls.Aid the Program Manager with supervision of Residential Assistants and volunteers.Conduct intake and discharge interviews; orient new residents and verify safe arrival after discharge.Facilitate scheduled house/group meetings, fire drills, and documentation thereof.Serve as a crisis counselor during duty—on the phone or in person with youth and/or parents.Model professional behavior, communication, decision making, problem solving, discipline, organization, cleanliness, respect for property and others, and maintain appropriate boundaries.Support service plan provision for resident clients as developed by the Program Manager.Participate in individual, group, and family counseling sessions as appropriate and upon request.Maintain all required documentation and provide monthly program summaries and statistical data to the Program Manager.Assist in public information campaigns and community representation.Attend scheduled or required meetings, workshops, retreats, conferences, and growth groups.Perform grocery shopping, menu planning, and supervise residents in meal preparation.Manage client at‑risk behaviors professionally and assertively.Work all assigned shift rotations, including morning, afternoon, evening, early morning, and weekends.Perform duties within the Safe House facility.Other Functions
