Job Opportunity with the State of Hawai'i

The State of Hawai'i is offering a position with various departments on the Island of Maui. The salary for this role ranges from $6,043 to $7,351 per month (SR-24, Step D to I). This recruitment is managed by the Department of Human Services, Social Services Division.

This role involves improving the quality of life for individuals through the remediation and prevention of their problems, and by enhancing the accessibility, accountability, and coordination of service delivery among various professionals and agencies. Positions are found in diverse settings including hospitals, social service agencies, schools, correctional facilities, and programs focused on substance abuse, aging, and family violence.

The work requires significant knowledge of human services skills, program goals, organizational objectives, and relevant policies, procedures, laws, rules, and regulations. Positions may include:

• Type A: Unit supervisors with full technical and administrative responsibility over a group of subordinate staff, responsible for planning, organizing, directing activities, assigning, reviewing, and evaluating work, providing technical guidance and staff training, and counseling and disciplining staff.
• Type B: Program specialists or staff consultants assigned to new or existing programs, responsible for monitoring and ensuring the relevancy of program goals, developing, evaluating, and modifying program components, anticipating staff training needs, and implementing staff training.

Program areas include the Department of the Attorney General's Criminal Justice Division, which provides professional counseling and assistance to victims and witnesses, and the Department of Human Services' Child Welfare Services Branch, which offers services for child protection, foster care, adoption, independent living skills, case management, foster home recruitment and licensing, and contracted support and treatment services.

To qualify, applicants must meet the following requirements:

• Legal Authorization to Work:
  Citizenship, nationality, or permanent residency status under federal law.

  A bachelor's or master's degree in social work or a bachelor's degree with a minimum of 12 semester credit hours in related fields for Human Services Professionals.
• Specialized
  
  Experience:
  
  Progressively responsible professional experience helping individuals and their families, with varying years of experience based on educational background.
