The Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation is recruiting to fill vacancies at Correctional Facilities and Intake Service Centers.
Social Worker or Human Services Professional III Level$5,107 to $6,221 per month (SR-20, Step D to I).
Social Worker or Human Services Professional IV Level$5,527 to $6,728 per month (SR-22, Step D to I). Hiring rates are based on available funds and applicant qualifications.

Job Description
Social Workers and Human Services Professionals improve the quality of life for clients by providing assessment, developing and implementing service plans, and monitoring outcomes. These professionals work in hospitals, social service agencies, schools, correctional facilities, and other settings.
Responsibilities
- Type A: Fully independent workers providing core human services: assessment of needs, development and implementation of service plans, direct services, and monitoring. Clients span a wide range of needs including psychosocial, medical, and environmental problems.
- Type B: Workers handling cases with complex needs, hostility, or uncertainty regarding appropriate services. These roles use established policies and are monitored by supervisors due to the volatile nature of cases.
Qualifications
- Legal authorization to work: U.S. citizen, national, permanent resident alien, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment.
- Social Worker: Bachelor's or Master's in social work from a program accredited by the Council on Social Work Education, or a doctoral degree from a college accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges, or comparable accreditation.
- Human Services Professional: Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university with at least 12 semester credit hours in counseling, criminal justice, human services, psychology, social work, social welfare, sociology or other behavioral sciences.
- Substitutions are allowed for the Human Services Professional if work experience equivalent to a baccalaureate degree is provided, subject to scope and level of responsibility.
- Social Worker: For BSW holders: 1 year (Level III) or 2 years (Level IV). For MSW holders: none (Level III), 1 year (Level IV). For PhD holders: none.
- Human Services Professional: 1.5 years (Level III), 2.5 years (Level IV) of relevant specialized experience.
- Substitutions allowed as per minimum qualification requirements.
- Graduating candidates within three months who will meet the minimum qualifications upon completion may be accepted for examination with official transcripts and verification letters.
Other Requirements
- Drug screening and background check for all conditional offers.
- Compliance with the Prison Rape Elimination Act: applicants must not have engaged in or been convicted of sexual abuse, or have been subject to related allegations.
- Valid driver's license required for some positions; required at appointment for immediate vacancy.
