Protecting lives in and around the ocean is serious work. As a Water Safety Officer, you will begin a rewarding public service career safeguarding beach goers and ocean users across Honolulu. The Honolulu Ocean Safety Department is searching for vigilant and proactive individuals to become a vital part of their team as a Water Safety Officer!

• Respond to ocean emergencies by performing rescues and providing first aid and emergency life support, including CPR.
• Staff lifeguarding towers or patrol assigned beach areas to monitor ocean and beach conditions.
• Learn and enforce City ordinances, rules, and regulations related to beach and shoreline use.
• Maintain and check lifesaving and communication equipment to ensure readiness.
• Prepare reports and logs related to rescues, incidents, and daily beach activity.
• Perform other related duties as required.

• Irregular work schedules, rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays.
• Exposure to hazardous conditions such as strong surf, adverse weather, and emergency situations.
• Physical demanding work requiring strong ability and endurance.
