The Department of Customer Services (CSD), Division of Motor Vehicles is hiring a Driver License Examiner II (CDL) to examine applicants to obtain a driver's license for a vehicle in all license categories (types 1 through 4 and commercial driver license (CDL) class A through C with applicable endorsements and/or restrictions) and conduct all skill tests to determine the applicant's eligibility for a driver's license.
WhatYou’ll Do
- Conduct CDL and driver license skill tests including pre‑trip inspections, basic control skills, road tests and evaluates applicants driving abilities in accordance with regulations.
- Explain testing procedures and results to applicants, provide feedback on performance, and give instructions for rescheduling if needed.
- Review and verify driver license applications and legal documents to ensure applicants meet all requirements for licensure.
- Administer written, oral, vision, and hearing tests, monitor testing to prevent cheating, and process test results in the licensing system.
- Determine applicant eligibility for licenses, including out‑of‑state transfers, and issue permits or temporary licenses as appropriate.
- Perform other related duties as required.

Minimum Qualification RequirementsAt time of application, you must be a citizen, national, or permanent resident alien of the United States or a non‑citizen eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment.
Education RequirementEquivalent to graduation from high school. Responsible work experience which demonstrated the ability to perform the essential functions of the job may be substituted for education.
Experience RequirementThree (3) years of supervisory, driver training instructional, regulatory or related experience, including or supplemented by one (1) year of frequent public contact which involved explaining rules and regulations to others in determining their eligibility or non‑eligibility for licenses, benefits or similar matters.
License RequirementAt the time of application:
Possession of a valid commercial driver’s license Category A (CDL
A) with passenger endorsement.

A) with all endorsements; and - Completion of a recognized certified Commercial Driver’s License Examiners Course.
Candidates for examiners of Category 4 and Commercial Driver’s licenses must possess a good driving record, as evidenced by a certified traffic abstract with no moving violations within the past three (3) years; and a valid commercial driver’s license Category A, for at least three years immediately preceding appointment. In addition, candidates must possess a valid commercial driver’s license Category A with passenger endorsement.
Verification Requirement:
At the time of interview, you must provide a current certified traffic abstract issued by the District Courts.
