Our growing construction company is seeking an organized and detail-oriented Trucking Dispatch professional to join our logistics team. This position plays a critical role in coordinating the movement of materials, equipment, and resources across multiple construction sites. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment and possess strong communication skills to effectively manage our fleet of commercial vehicles while ensuring timely deliveries that keep our projects on schedule.
Responsibilities- Coordinate and schedule daily routes for truck drivers to ensure efficient delivery of construction materials and equipment to job sites.
- Monitor driver locations and adjust routes in real-time to accommodate changing project needs, traffic conditions, and weather delays.
- Maintain accurate records of all shipments, including bills of lading, delivery confirmations, and driver logs.
- Communicate regularly with project managers, foremen, and drivers to confirm delivery requirements and address any scheduling conflicts.
- Ensure compliance with Department of Transportation regulations and company safety policies.
- Track vehicle maintenance schedules and coordinate repairs to minimize downtime.
- Process and maintain documentation for permits, weight restrictions, and route clearances.
- Respond promptly to driver inquiries and resolve issues that arise during transit.
- Prepare daily dispatch reports and maintain organized filing systems for all transportation documentation.
- Monitor fuel consumption and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
- Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to schedule material pickups and confirm load specifications.
- Utilize dispatch software and GPS tracking systems to optimize fleet operations.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in dispatch operations, preferably in construction, trucking, or logistics.
- Strong knowledge of DOT regulations, hours of service requirements, and transportation safety standards.
- Proficiency with dispatch software, GPS tracking systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with drivers, management, and clients.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously in a high-pressure environment.
- Problem‑solving abilities and sound judgment when making time‑sensitive decisions.
- Familiarity with construction materials, equipment transportation, and job site logistics.
- Ability to read and interpret maps, delivery schedules, and route planning tools.
- Flexibility to work extended hours, including early mornings, evenings, and occasional weekends as needed.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Bilingual capabilities in English and Spanish preferred but not required.
