Road to Hana Tour Driver GuideThis position is more than a driving job; you are the heart of the experience. You will navigate 620 curves and 59 single‑lane bridges on Maui’s stunning rainforest coastline while delivering expert live narration, creating genuine connections with guests, and ensuring a safe, memorable, and seamless journey from start to finish.
Work HoursTours run daily, 6:00 AM – 6:30 PM, with convenient hotel pickup and drop‑off from major Maui resorts.
Wages- $33.59/hr + Tips (Hana Route Premium Rate)
- Other charters are subject to the company wage scale.
- Safely operate an air‑conditioned mini coach along the Road to Hana corridor, navigating narrow, winding roads and single‑lane bridges with confidence and professionalism.
- Deliver engaging, expert live narration throughout the tour, sharing history, culture, and natural highlights of the Road to Hana — including stops at Pa’ia Town, Ke’anae Peninsula, Pua’a Ka’a State Park, Wai’ānanapa State Park, Hana Farms, Hana Bay, Ho’okipa Beach Park, and more.
- Coordinate and facilitate included amenities — continental breakfast, farm‑to‑table lunch at Hana Farms, and Wai’ānanapa State Park admission — ensuring guests have everything they need.
- Greets and assists passengers while boarding and/or exiting the vehicle; assists with ADA passenger needs.
- Loads/unloads passenger baggage.
- Conduct daily pre‑trip inspection of the assigned vehicle prior to departure, ensuring proper working order, fluid levels, and a clean interior with essential tools and sales materials.
- Follow established schedules and routes set forth by Operations.
- Report any mechanical defect, safety concern, or vehicle damage to Maintenance and/or Dispatch.
- Report any bodily injury or accident immediately to Dispatch.
- Conduct post‑trip inspection, complete DVIR booklet, and deliver Maintenance copy to the appropriate collection site; complete all other required paperwork.
- Always be in uniform as per the Employee Handbook.
- Always have all credentials on person: driver's license, medical certificate, and any other required credentials.
- Perform other job‑related duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Must be at least 21 years of age and provide a current driver history record.
- Possession of a valid CDL B license with passenger and air brake endorsements required.
- One year of commercial driving experience is preferred but not required.
- Have the Aloha Spirit and desire to share knowledge of our island home.
- Friendly, outgoing, and engaging personality.
- Good customer service skills while servicing visitors.
- Good judgment and decision‑making while handling multiple situations.
- Ability to work independently without supervision.

- Customer service duties require relating to customers, employees, and management in a friendly and professional manner at all times.
- Working conditions require sitting for extended periods, standing, climbing stairs, walking long distances, bending, squatting, and pushing/pulling as needed throughout the day.
- Physical demands may require lifting supplies and equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to clearly and effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, employees, and the general public.
- Duties require a flexible work schedule to include working on nights, weekends, and/or holidays.
