UP.FIT, the law enforcement and government-focused division of Unplugged Performance, is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Automotive Technician to join our growing team in Hawthorne, CA
. This role is ideal for a passionate technician with experience in performance vehicles, aftermarket parts, and suspension systems. The Automotive Technician will work hands-on with Tesla vehicles, supporting vehicle modifications and outfitting for government fleets, including police and emergency service departments.
- Perform high-quality installations of aftermarket and performance parts on Tesla vehicles.
- Complete suspension upgrades, vehicle alignments, and geometry adjustments to meet performance and ergonomic specifications.
- Assist in the outfitting and upfitting of vehicles for fleet clients, including law enforcement and public safety agencies.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair automotive systems using proper techniques and tools.
- Work with precision on electrical, suspension, and drivetrain systems, with an emphasis on safety and manufacturer compliance.
- Collaborate with engineers and service managers to ensure all modifications are executed to spec.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding project status and timelines.
- Accurately document all work performed, including vehicle notes, install checklists, and part usage.
- Participate in vehicle testing, ride-alongs, and event support including fleet demos and race track events as needed.
- Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and occasional travel for special events or urgent fleet deployments.
- Minimum 2+ years of hands-on automotive experience in a dealer-level or high-performance shop environment.
- Strong familiarity with suspension systems, vehicle ergonomics, and alignment procedures.
- Experience installing and working with aftermarket components.
- Tesla experience is preferred but not required—training available for the right candidate.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality craftsmanship.
- Valid California Driver’s License and clean driving record.
- ASE Certification (preferred but not required).
- Experience working with Tesla vehicles.
- Background in motorsports, racing, or track day vehicle setup.
