Senior Mechanical Engineer

Job Summary

This position is focused on the mechanical design, development, and manufacturing of stationary and mobile antenna systems and related equipment.

• Work as part of multiple integrated product teams; sometimes as lead mechanical engineer, other times in a support or advisory role
• Perform hands‑on design and analysis, and mentor junior engineers
• Prepare and present design and analysis material during internal and customer design reviews
• Prepare detailed product manufacturing documentation such as test procedures and assembly instructions
• Support component and antenna system level environmental testing
• Interface with Thin Kom production personnel and outside suppliers during the manufacturing phase of programs
• Support business development activities by providing input for proposals

• BS in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
• 5+ years of experience in mechanical engineering and product design/development
• Experienced in designing for producibility, reliability, and ease of assembly and maintenance
• Experience in the design and analysis of positioner drive systems is preferred
• Knowledge in materials, structural and thermal analysis, dynamics, vibration, mechanical shock, heat transfer, finite element analysis, and composite structures
• Knowledge of fabrication techniques such as machining, forming, casting, injection molding, and additive manufacturing
• Knowledge of fasteners, adhesives, coatings, and related industry specifications
• Solid modeling, engineering drawing, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing skills; experience with Creo is preferred
• Well versed in configuration management
• Technically proficient in Microsoft Office products

• Interpersonal skills to effectively work with Thin Kom personnel, suppliers, and customers
• Ability to present information clearly in team meetings and design reviews

• Must be eligible to obtain and hold a US DoD Security Clearance in support of US Government contracts/subcontracts
• Follow Thin Kom corporate policies and design procedures

• Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
• Use of a computer terminal to access, input, and retrieve data
• Interruption of work priorities and/or focus may occur
• Occasional standing, walking, sitting, stooping, reaching, and bending required
• Occasional lifting or moving files or boxes up to 50 pounds
• Possible irregular or extended work hours
• Extended periods of sitting may be required
• Ability to work in environments with occasional loud noises, hazardous materials, chemicals, and electromagnetic energy

Salary Range – $100,000 – $140,000.
