What To Expect
Consider before submitting an application: this position is expected to start August or September 2026 and continue through fall term (ending approximately December 2026 or later, if available). We ask for a minimum of 12 weeks, full-time (40 hours/week) and on-site, for most internships. Our internship program is for students who are actively enrolled in an academic program. Recent graduates seeking employment after graduation and not returning to school should apply for full-time positions, not internships.
International students: if your work authorization is through CPT, please consult your school on your ability to work 40 hours per week before applying. You must be able to work 40 hours per week on-site. Many students will be limited to part-time during the academic year.

Tesla Design Studio – Hawthorne, CA
The Tesla Aerodynamics team is design focused and driven to develop the best vehicles in the world. We apply our deep understanding of aerodynamics fundamentals to build efficiency, handling, comfort and functionality into the DNA of our products. Based in the Design Studio, we work side‑by‑side with designers on new products, from concept sketches to final release. We collaborate closely with engineering groups across the company on part execution, test and validation and post‑production updates, ensuring aggressive targets are met and new industry standards are set.

- Develop aerodynamic concepts and technology in CAD
- Utilize and develop CFD workflows for aerodynamic evaluation and optimization
- Support physical testing activities in the wind tunnel, on road and bench testing
- Analyze, document and present technical findings
- Develop software tools to assist and improve development activities
- Currently pursuing a degree in Engineering or a related field
- A curious mind and an eye for detail
- Proven ability to translate technical understanding into performant designs
- Understanding of, and preferably experience in, CFD modelling (preferably Star-CCM+)
- Familiarity with use of CAD software to create and manipulate 3D surface geometry (ideally Catia/3DX)

Expected Compensation: $20.00 – $50.00 per hour plus benefits. Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
