The NDE Operations organization at Space

X is an inclusive, interdisciplinary team committed to providing high‑quality inspections of flight components and production assemblies. As an NDE Level II Inspector, you will inspect a wide range of Falcon, Dragon, Starship, and Raptor components and help drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities
  • Perform surface and volumetric NDE inspections
  • Interpret, evaluate, communicate, and report findings to production and engineering teams
  • Interpret and review engineering drawings as required
  • Support the development of NDE inspection techniques for complex geometries
  • Support research and development of future ultrasonic technology for operational improvements
  • Assist in training and developing others within the team
Basic Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate
  • NDE Level II certification in Radiographic Testing (RT) aligned with ASNT‑TC‑1A, NAS‑410, or DoD guidance
Preferred Skills and Experience
  • 2+ years of experience as a Level II NDE/NDT inspector
  • Nondestructive evaluation Level II certification in one or more of the following methods:
    Ultrasonic (UT), Phased Array Ultrasonic Testing (PAUT), Eddy Current (ET), Digital Radiography (DR), or Computed Radiography (CR)
  • Operational experience utilizing NDE methods for the inspection of weldments and castings
  • Knowledge of UTEX Inspection Ware software or equivalent
  • Familiarity with NASA 5009, AMS, AWS/ASME, and ASTM standards
  • Experience with problem‑solving tools such as PPS and 8D
  • Basic understanding of lean principles: 5S, kaizen, continuous improvement initiatives
  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office applications
Additional Requirements
  • Must be able to lift 25 lbs unassisted, bend, stretch, stand for extended periods, climb stairs, reach, twist, sit, and walk
  • 1st shift (Monday – Friday 5:00 AM – 3:30 PM) or 2nd shift (Monday – Friday 2:00 PM – 12:30 AM)
  • Must be willing to work overtime and on weekends as needed
Compensation and Benefits
  • NDE Level II Inspector/Grade 1: $25.00 – $35.00/hour
  • NDE Level II Inspector/Grade 2: $30.00 – $40.00/hour
  • NDE Level II Inspector/Grade 3: $35.00 – $45.00/hour
  • NDE Level II Inspector/Grade 4: $43.00 – $54.00/hour
  • NDE Level II Inspector/Grade 5: $50.00 – $60.00/hour

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case‑by‑case basis and may vary based on job‑related knowledge, skills, education, and experience.

Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package  may also be eligible for long‑term incentives (company stock, stock options, or long‑term cash awards), discretionary bonuses, and the ability to purchase additional stock at a discount through an Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
