Our team of Failure Analysis Engineers at Ring is tasked with solving systemic hardware issues and building tools to detect and mitigate future recurrences. We work closely with development engineers and vendors to get to the root cause and drive changes back into our products.

• Identifying and researching failures down to component level to improve product yield, quality, and reliability.
• Performing in‑depth chemical, physical, or electromechanical failure analysis.
• Performing PCBA debugging on RMA return, determining the root cause of failure, analyzing failure reports, and recommending corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
• Working with functional teams to understand device issues.
• Articulating conclusions to the team and advocating for appropriate action.
• Developing new diagnostic tools or tests and more efficient failure analysis techniques.
• Reading schematics and layouts and applying failure analysis procedures to identify the failure location and root causes.
• Writing comprehensive failure analysis reports, including charts and photographs.

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or equivalent.
• Experience with project management of technical projects.
• Experience with written and verbal communication and presentation.
• 2+ years of relevant work experience with connected, electromechanical devices and debugging issues in production or manufacturing.
• Proficiency in electrical characterization techniques for fault isolation (curve tracing, DMM) and materials characterization (SEM/EDS, FTIR, XRF, CT x‑ray).

• Knowledge of and proficiency in Excel and SQL.
• Experience influencing multiple stakeholders and leading cross‑functional teams across geographies and business units.
• Experience working with Data & AI related technologies, including AI/ML, GenAI, analytics, databases, and storage.
• Deep and up‑to‑date technical understanding of protocols and debugging methods for related technologies, with prior experience launching products and driving continuous improvements.
• Demonstrated ability to uncover systemic issues and drive failure analysis to root cause swiftly and accurately.
• Expertise with electronic test equipment (digital/analog), such as logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, and test systems for board failure analysis and debugging.
