X is actively developing the technologies to make space exploration a reality, with the ultimate goal of enabling human life on Mars. As part of the Satellites Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) team, you will provide technical EHS support to satellite manufacturing teams. You will assist in implementing all environmental, health, and safety requirements for satellite and dish manufacturing teams. The ideal candidate is highly skilled in both environmental and occupational safety fields, hands‑on, and works well in a fast‑paced environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develop and maintain compliance with all applicable regulations and guidelines established by OSHA, NFPA, NIOSH, EPA, CERCLA, RCRA, DOT, TRRC, RWQCB, NEPA, and other regulatory agencies.
  • Collaborate with department leadership to complete job hazard assessments and implement health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Monitor employee exposure to physical and chemical hazards and implement machine guarding where needed.
  • Develop recommendations for remedial actions when safety policies are not met by employees.
  • Inspect facilities, machinery, and safety equipment to identify and correct potential hazards and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Complete and maintain documented safety observations from regular hazard identification audits.
  • Investigate industrial accidents, injuries, or occupational diseases to determine root causes, corrective actions, and preventive measures.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain safety contingency plans (fires, spills, etc.).
  • Review and interpret new and proposed environmental laws and regulations and provide guidance to management.
  • Perform environmental compliance and due diligence audits to ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory agencies.
  • Conduct and monitor NPDES and other discharge permits/plans and maintain record‑keeping and compliance requirements established for permitted sources defined by the local AQMD.
  • Manage hazardous and non‑hazardous waste, including DOT and RCRA compliance.
  • Maintain compliance with the Certified Unified Program Agency.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • 5+ years of experience in the design, development, and operational oversight of environmental, health, and safety disciplines.
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor of Science in engineering with an emphasis in Occupational Health and Safety and/or Environmental Engineering.
  • Experience in both environmental and safety fields.
  • Mechanically inclined with basic comprehension of modern machinery principles.
  • Experience implementing storm‑water regulations.
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local safety and environmental regulations and experience documenting compliance.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, including effective communication with all company levels.
  • Experience with emergency response communication and incident management for hazardous and non‑hazardous material releases.
  • Extensive experience in environmental permitting, waste management, and regulation interpretation.
  • High emotional intelligence and adaptability in communication styles.
  • Ability to accept constructive criticism and correct course quickly.
  • Proven organizational skills and multitasking capabilities.
  • Experience and/or education in construction safety.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
  • This is not a remote or hybrid position; relocation to the Hawthorne, CA area may be required.
  • The position occasionally requires extended hours and weekend work.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

Pay range:
Environmental Health & Safety Engineer Senior: $ – $ per year. Salary will be determined on a case‑by‑case basis based on knowledge, skills, education, and experience.
