Mechanical Engineer

Job Summary

This position is focused on the mechanical design, development, and manufacturing of stationary and mobile antenna systems and related equipment.

• Works as part of an integrated product team under the direction of a lead Mechanical Engineer and Program Manager
• Provide effective design support during the conceptual and detailed design phases of a product development program
• Perform hands‑on design and analysis
• Prepare and present design and analysis material during internal and customer design reviews
• Prepare detailed product manufacturing documentation such as test procedures and assembly instructions
• Support component and antenna system level environmental testing
• Interface with Thin Kom production personnel and outside suppliers during the manufacturing phase of programs
• Support business development activities by providing input for proposals

• BS in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
• 2+ years of experience in Mechanical Engineering and product design and development desired, but not mandatory
• Knowledge in the areas of materials, structural and thermal analysis, dynamics, vibration, mechanical shock, heat transfer, and finite element analysis
• Knowledge of metal fabrication techniques such as machining, sheet metal, and forming, along with some experience with injection molded plastics and cast metal part design preferred, but not mandatory
• Solid model design, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, and detailed drawing experience, preferably using Creo or similar CAD software
• Technically proficient in MS Office products

• Excellent problem‑solving abilities
• Ability to communicate clearly, both verbally and in written form
• Interpersonal skills to effectively work with Thin Kom personnel as well as suppliers and customers
• Ability to effectively present information in team meetings and design reviews

• Must be eligible to obtain and hold a US DoD Security Clearance in support of US Government contracts/subcontracts
• Follow Thin Kom corporate policies and design procedures

• Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
• Position requires use of a computer terminal to access, input, and retrieve data
• Position may be subject to interruptions that change immediate priorities and/or work focus
• Employee may stand, walk, sit, stoop, reach, and/or bend while performing duties
• May occasionally lift or move files or boxes up to 50 pounds
• May be subjected to occasional irregular or extended work hours
• May be required to sit for extended periods
• Must be able to work in an environment that may expose to occasional loud noises, hazardous materials, chemicals, and electromagnetic energy

Salary Range - $70,000 - $100,000
