Day to day as a Accounting AnalystThe Accounting Analyst at Sky One Federal Credit Union plays a pivotal role in delivering financial and analytical support throughout the organization to ensure precise reporting and informed decision‑making. Key responsibilities include managing the month‑end close process, conducting budget‑to‑actual analysis, and generating comprehensive Board and Management reports, along with various ad‑hoc analyses as needed. This role involves preparing and posting timely journal entries, executing essential general ledger reconciliations, and proactively addressing any accounting issues that arise.
By collaborating closely with Accounting management, the Accounting Analyst helps to streamline processes and enhance overall efficiency. Additionally, this position may support internal and external audits, regulatory examinations, and various financial analysis activities, making it a vital part of our mission to deliver meaningful financial solutions tailored to our members’ needs.
To excel as an Accounting Analyst at Sky One Federal Credit Union, candidates must possess a strong foundation in general accounting principles and practices, with specific expertise in loan accounting and financial analysis. Proficiency in accounting software and tools is essential for daily postings to the general ledger, maintaining ledger accuracy through analysis, reconciliation, and addressing discrepancies. Successful candidates will also need to be skilled in month‑end closing tasks, including posting accrual entries and preparing financial statements.
Strong analytical skills are necessary for conducting variance analyses and trend evaluations to support profitability and member value creation. Effective collaboration with various teams across the organization is crucial, as is the ability to manage large datasets while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
Additionally, candidates should be adept at documenting policies and procedures, providing insightful recommendations on accounting practices, and creating visual reports that communicate key performance indicators effectively.
QUALIFICATIONS- Minimum of 4-6 years of experience in financial analysis, treasury, reporting and budgeting.
- Four‑year college degree in Finance or Accounting preferred.
- Thorough knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
- Thorough knowledge of the General Ledger system.
- Ability to learn new systems and its functionality.
- Ability to effectively handle confidential information and materials.
- Ability to identify problems, analyze relevant data, think critically and strategically, generate alternatives, and select solutions to problems.
- Ability to independently and proactively research issues, suggest improvements and formulate new analysis.
- Ability to work autonomously, as a team member, and in a cross‑functional capacity with other departments to accomplish responsibilities.
- Demonstrate oral and written communication skills. Ability to communicate complex issues in a concise, clear manner.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple competing priorities simultaneously, and drive projects to completion.
- Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment.
- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
