Controller – Manufacturing Company ($100M Revenue) Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced and hands‑on Controller to lead the accounting and financial operations of a growing $100M manufacturing company. The Controller will be responsible for overseeing all accounting functions, financial reporting, internal controls, budgeting, cost accounting, inventory management, and production cost analysis. This role requires a strong manufacturing background with deep expertise in standard costing, inventory controls, production variances, and operational finance.

The ideal candidate is a strategic business partner who can provide financial insight to support operational efficiency, profitability improvement, and scalable growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee all accounting operations including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, fixed assets, and treasury functions.
  • Prepare and deliver accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
  • Lead month‑end and year‑end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
  • Develop and maintain strong internal controls and accounting policies.
  • Coordinate annual audits and serve as primary liaison with external auditors, tax advisors, and banking partners.
  • Manage cash flow forecasting, working capital, and financial risk management.
Manufacturing & Cost Accounting
  • Lead all cost accounting activities within a manufacturing environment.
  • Maintain and improve standard costing systems and methodologies.
  • Analyze production costs, labor variances, material usage, scrap, overhead absorption, and manufacturing efficiencies.
  • Partner closely with operations and plant leadership to identify cost‑saving opportunities and improve gross margins.
  • Monitor inventory valuation, inventory reserves, and cycle count accuracy.
  • Ensure accurate inventory accounting including raw materials, WIP, and finished goods.
  • Review BOMs (Bills of Materials), routing structures, and manufacturing variances for accuracy and operational insight.
  • Drive financial analysis related to inventory turns, production throughput, and operational KPIs.
Budgeting, Forecasting & Analysis
  • Lead annual budgeting and forecasting processes across departments.
  • Develop financial models and operational reporting tools to support decision‑making.
  • Analyze financial performance and provide recommendations to executive leadership.
  • Create dashboards and KPIs focused on manufacturing performance, inventory management, and profitability.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting and finance team.
  • Establish a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and collaboration.
  • Improve accounting systems, reporting processes, and workflow efficiencies.
Qualifications Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • CPA strongly preferred.
  • 8+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience with at least 3 years in a Controller or senior accounting leadership role.
  • Strong manufacturing industry experience in a company of approximately $100M+ in revenue.

  • Standard costing
  • Production cost analysis
  • Inventory accounting and controls
  • Manufacturing variance analysis
  • ERP systems within manufacturing environments
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and internal controls.
  • Advanced Excel and financial reporting skills.
Preferred
  • Experience with multi‑site manufacturing operations.
  • Experience implementing or optimizing ERP systems.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with executive leadership and operational teams.
