Job Summary

The Shift Specialist is a versatile and dynamic role within our cannabis dispensary, responsible for ensuring smooth daily operations by working across multiple departments—Inventory (Invo), Admin, and Sales. This position requires an individual who is proactive, detail-oriented, and able to adapt to a fast-paced, ever-evolving environment. The Shift Specialist will play a crucial role in both the opening and closing of the store, maintaining a clean and organized workspace, and delivering exceptional customer service.

Open availability, including weekends and holidays, is required for this role.

Key Responsibilities
  • Check-In Guests/Checking IDs: Verify the identity and age of all guests, ensuring compliance with state and local regulations.
  • Greets: Provide a warm and welcoming environment for all customers as they enter the dispensary.
  • Assigns: Direct guests to appropriate team members based on their needs and preferences.
  • Educates: Inform guests about daily and weekly promotions, products, and services to enhance their shopping experience.
  • Ring s Out: Process transactions efficiently and accurately at the point of sale, applying promotional discounts and ensuring correct product pricing.
  • Handle Returns/Exchanges: Manage product returns and exchanges in accordance with company policies, ensuring customer satisfaction.
Inventory Management
  • Restock Transfers (Safe to Live): Ensure that all product transfers from the safe to the sales floor are accurately completed and documented.
  • Heat Checks: Verify that all products are on display according to the provided inventory list.
  • Change Product Percentages: Update product pricing or discounts when new batches are available for sale.
  • Restock List/Floor: Regularly check and restock the sales floor during business hours, ensuring product availability.
  • Organize Safe: Maintain a well-organized safe, ensuring the security and accuracy of inventory.
Cash Management
  • Count Till In and Out: Accurately count and record the cash in tills at the beginning and end of each shift.
  • Register Drops: Perform regular cash drops to ensure the security of funds throughout the day.
  • Start and Close Registers: Responsible for setting up and closing down registers, ensuring all transactions are accounted for.
  • Grab Change/Bookkeeping: Manage cash tracking and ensure that change is available as needed for transactions.
  • Collect & Consolidate Tips: Gather and distribute tips at the end of each shift according to company policy.
Administrative & Operational Support
  • Daily IDR Check: Perform daily distribution reports to ensure all products are on the floor.
  • Follow Up on Product Call Back List: Contact s regarding product availability or issues, ensuring customer needs are met.
  • Discounts: Ensure all Discounts are being properly applied and assist specialists if they are having issues. Communicate to proper departments if they are not working properly
  • Assist with Tasks: Provide support to Shift Captains and GM with various tasks and projects as needed.
  • Shift Transition: Facilitate smooth transitions between shifts, communicating any pertinent information to incoming team members.
Store Maintenance & Organization
  • Keep Front Desk & Sales Floor Clean: Ensure that the front desk and sales floor are tidy, organized, and presentable at all times.
  • Maintenance: Ensure any maintenance issues are being communicated to proper departments
  • Haven Huddles: Hold team huddles at beginning of shifts to discuss goals, updates, and any important information for the day.
  • Help Departments as Needed: Provide cross-departmental support, assisting Invo, Admin, or Sales teams with tasks as required.
Training & Development
  • Attend Trainings/Meetings: Regularly participate in training sessions and team meetings to stay informed and improve job performance.
  • Break Team Members: Ensure all team members take their scheduled breaks while maintaining adequate coverage on the sales floor.
Qualifications
  • Experience: Previous experience in a retail, customer service, or administrative role is preferred; experience in the cannabis industry is a plus.
  • Skills: Strong communication, organizational, and multitasking skills; proficiency in POS systems and cash handling.
  • Knowledge: Understanding of cannabis products and state/local regulations is highly desirable.
  • Availability: Must have open availability, including weekends and holidays.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle stressful situations calmly and professionally.
  • Fast-Paced: Must be able to thrive in a dynamic and often fast-paced retail setting.
  • Customer-Focused: A strong emphasis on providing exceptional customer service and maintaining a welcoming environment.
