Pipefitter​/Plumber

Amentum is seeking a Pipefitter/Plumber to join our team in Hawthorne, Nevada to support the Hawthorne Army Depot. The position requires maintaining pipe/steam systems, including installation, repair, maintenance, and replacement of water/steam lines, valves, radiators, heaters, storage and condensate tanks, steam traps, control valves, fittings, expansion joints and steam pressure systems. Secret US Government Clearance is required (US citizenship).

• Plan piping/tubing system layouts, installations or repairs according to specifications and blueprints.
• Modify, clean, and maintain pipe/steam systems, units, fittings and related machines using hand and power tools.
• Measure and mark pipes for cutting, threading, and welding.
• Use tools such as saws, cutting torches, pipe threaders, benders, and welders.
• Read drawings and specifications to determine layout of plumbing systems; install, repair, and maintain water/steam lines, valves, radiators, heaters, storage and condensate tanks, steam traps, control valves, fittings, and expansion joints.
• Inspect, examine, and test installed systems using pressure gauges, hydrostatic testing, observation, and other methods.
• Recondition small steam/hot water boilers and auxiliary equipment.
• Work with other trades to ensure specifications, procedures, and policies are met.
• Maintain records of time and materials; complete job orders.
• Follow Task Hazard Analysis (THA’s) and Safety Data Sheet guidelines for hazardous materials.
• Perform work safely, complying with environmental permits and regulations; maintain a good attendance record.
• May work overtime, in a demilitarization facility, and perform duties of higher or equal difficulty.

• Minimum age 18 years and high school diploma or equivalent.
• Four (4) years apprenticeship or one (1) year as a journeyman Pipe Fitter/Plumber.
• Completion of a certifiable technical or trade school program.
• Ability to read blueprints and perform shop mathematics.
• Valid state driver’s license.
• Computer literacy in common software applications and office equipment.
• Ability to obtain and maintain all required certifications and a valid Secret clearance.
• Detail‑oriented, good judgment, and problem‑solving skills.
• Willingness to work overtime, varying hours, and rotating shifts.
• Physical fitness to perform essential functions, including HWAD drill, contingency, and emergency requirements.

• Position is safety sensitive and requires completion of personnel security investigation, drug testing, medical exam and respiratory screening.
• Must satisfy Army Regulations: AR 190-11, AR 190-13 and DOD Contractors Safety Manual 4145.26.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Clearance through the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms and be favorably vetted through the NCIC III System.
