Position Overview
Housing and Resource Navigator – Full time, non‑exempt. Reports to Director of Programs. Position starts ASAP. Compensation: $30–$35/hour DOE.
Position PurposeThe Housing and Resource Navigator supports individuals receiving services from A Sense of Home (ASOH) by ensuring stable housing and access to essential resources. The HRN researches, creates, and distributes listings of available housing resources for voucher and non‑voucher holders, provides referrals to landlords partnered with ASOH, and offers incentive letters to build rapport. The HRN also provides resource navigation for food, transportation, employment, education, legal, parenting, and health and wellness services, including support for individuals impacted by the 2025 Los Angeles Fires.
Data collection, participation in networking events, and collaboration with public and private partners are additional key responsibilities.
- Housing Navigation
: research, create, and distribute lists of available housing resources; engage with landlords, PHAs, and partner case managers; provide incentive letters; maintain relationships with designated units; share resources with ASOH Member community and track/manage interest forms and application referrals; support members in maintaining housing stability. - Resource Navigation
: meet with individuals to discuss short‑ and long‑term goals; provide referrals; conduct meetings via in‑person, Zoom, phone, or off‑site events; research, update and distribute resource information via social media, newsletters, and flyers; collaborate with Intake Coordinator. - Community Building
: develop and maintain connections with property managers accepting housing vouchers; attend housing and resource networking events; collaborate with partner organizations and case managers; engage participants at ASOH events with volunteers, donors, and alumni. - Data Tracking
: collect and track data related to resources and housing.
- Relevant experience working with foster youth, transition‑aged youth, or homeless services is preferred.
- Housing case‑management experience preferred.
- Spanish speaking preferred.
- Must have reliable transportation for frequent local travel.
- Preference for a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
- Operate computers, cameras, scanners, phones, and printers.
- Use client database software and cloud‑based tools such as Google Drive, Zoom, and Dropbox.
- Communicate over the phone, virtually, and in person with clients, partners, and staff.
- Organize, plan, and prioritize work.
- Make decisions and solve problems.
- Process information and verify data accuracy.
- Establish and maintain interpersonal relationships.
- Document and maintain logs.
- Evaluate information for compliance with standards and policies.
- Analytical Skills – ability to process and analyze abstract verbal and written instructions, visualise and assess abstract ideas, read, analyze complex documents, and communicate analysis in oral and written form.
- Reasoning Ability – apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form; handle problems with several concrete variables in standardised situations.
- Communications and Media – requires public speaking, phone conversations, email use, writing letters and memos, face‑to‑face discussions, and contact with others.
- English Language – strong knowledge in reading, writing, and speaking English; ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and procedures, and write routine reports and correspondence; speak effectively before groups.
- Customer and Personal Service – knowledge of principles and processes for providing superior customer and personal services.
- Mathematical Skills – ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
- Computers and Electronics – working knowledge of email, social media networks, computers, smartphones, equipment, graphics software, and CRM system.
