Hourly Compensation: $22.00 - $24.50
A respected public accounting and advisory firm is seeking an Audit Assistant to join its growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent accounting graduate or early-career professional interested in developing a career in audit, financial reporting, and public accounting. The role offers hands-on exposure to financial statement preparation, auditing procedures, and client engagement while working alongside experienced accounting professionals.
Position OverviewThe Staff Accountant will support audit and accounting engagements for a diverse client base, including local educational institutions and public sector organizations. This position provides extensive training and mentorship, with increasing responsibility based on demonstrated performance and professional growth.
Key Responsibilities- Assist with financial statement audits and accounting engagements.
- Perform substantive and compliance testing to evaluate financial accuracy and regulatory compliance.
- Review financial transactions, records, and reports to identify discrepancies and irregularities.
- Prepare and maintain detailed work papers and audit documentation.
- Analyze financial data and support audit findings and conclusions.
- Collaborate with clients to obtain information and documentation required for audit procedures.
- Utilize accounting and audit software to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
- Work closely with senior team members to meet engagement deadlines and client expectations.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional and ethical standards.
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting required.
- Understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting concepts.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with accounting technology and Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
- Desire to build a long-term career in public accounting and auditing.
