Terra Underground is a well-established excavation and site work general contractor based in Hayden, over 15 years in business and approximately 50 employees, we have built a strong reputation across North Idaho and Eastern Washington for quality work and reliable execution. We self-perform the majority of our work and take pride in the relationships we have built with owners, engineers, and the communities we serve.
We are looking for a key hire to help us continue estimating and managing projects at the high standard our clients expect.
This is a combined Estimator/Project Manager position — you will own projects end-to-end. You will be responsible for bidding new work, managing awarded projects in the field and office, and helping us grow profitably. This role reports directly to ownership and has real impact on company direction.
What You'll Do- Prepare detailed takeoffs and cost estimates for excavation, grading, utilities, and site work projects
- Analyze plans, specs, and geotechnical reports to develop accurate bids
- Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotes
- Track bid results and maintain a database of unit costs and productivity rates
- Participate in pre-bid site walks and owner/GC meetings
- Manage awarded projects from contract execution through final closeout
- Develop project schedules, manpower plans, and equipment assignments
- Coordinate with field superintendents, subcontractors, owners, and engineers
- Track project costs and quantities; provide weekly cost-to-complete updates
- Review and process submittals, RFIs, change orders, and pay applications
- Ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget
- 5+ years of estimating and/or project management experience in heavy civil, excavation, or site work
- Demonstrated experience with underground utilities, earthwork, grading, and site development
- Proficiency in estimating software (Heavy Bid, HCSS, or similar)
- Strong understanding of equipment productivity and cost structures
- Ability to read and interpret civil plans, specifications, and geotech reports
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record
- Experience working for or with a GC in North Idaho or Eastern Washington
- Familiarity with Idaho and Washington public works bidding requirements
- Experience with Heavy Job, Computer Ease, or similar job cost and PM platforms
- OSHA 30 certification
$90,000 – $115,000 depending on experience
