Job Description
Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) to support plasma center operations, determining donor eligibility, managing adverse events, reviewing laboratory results, and providing medical support as per SOPs.
Responsibilities- Determine donor eligibility, including management of informed consent, AIDS education, self-exclusion, medical history interview, physical examination, blood testing, and review of Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE).
- Evaluate donor reactions and follow SOPs for medical emergencies, including developing Center Physician standing orders and coordinating donor transport to emergency care.
- Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings, medical or technical issues, donor safety and eligibility.
- Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees.
- Manage employee incidents, determining if further evaluation by occupational health/ER is required and refer to EHS guidance.
- Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS, supporting investigations related to pandemic threats within the community.
- Provide center-level support of environmental, health and safety (EHS) as guided by Bio Life Medical Affairs.
- Review laboratory test results and notify donors of unsuitable test results.
- High school diploma or equivalent; or graduate equivalent of a recognized nursing program with state requirements.
- Current license or certification (RN, NP or PA) in the state where responsibilities will be assigned.
- Current CPR and AED certification.
- Fulfillment of state requirements for basic IV therapy.
- Completion of FDA‑approved training requirements for Bio Life Medical Support Specialist.
- Two years clinical or hospital experience.
Hourly wage range: $31.68 – $43.56.
