Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse)
As the Medical Support Specialist, you will support Plasma Center operations by determining donor eligibility, managing donor adverse events, reviewing laboratory test results, and notifying donors of unsuitable test results. You will work under the guidance of the Center Manager, Assistant Manager, and Center Physician, and provide center‑level support of Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) practices.
Responsibilities- Determine donor eligibility and manage informed consent, including AIDS education and confidential self‑exclusion.
- Conduct medical history interviews, physical examinations, blood testing, and review of Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE).
- Evaluate donor reactions as outlined in SOPs and follow applicable SOPs for medical emergencies, including developing Center Physician standing orders and arranging donor transport to emergency care.
- Refer to Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings and guidance on medical or technical issues.
- Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees.
- Manage employee incidents and determine further evaluation by occupational health or ER, following EHS guidance.
- Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support investigations related to pandemic threats.
- High school diploma or equivalent; graduate of a recognized nursing program with state requirements.
- Currently licensed or certified in the assigned state:
Registered Nurse (RN), Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA). - Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and AED certification.
- Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy.
- Complete FDA‑approved training for Bio Life Medical Support Specialist.
- Two years in a clinical or hospital setting.
U.S. hourly wage range: $31.68 – $43.56 per hour. Actual wages will be based on qualifications, experience, and location, and will comply with state/local minimum wage requirements.
