Description

Since 1933, Stan Craft has been building some of the world's most iconic wooden boats. Combining traditional craftsmanship with modern innovation, our team creates custom vessels that are known for their beauty, quality, and performance. We are looking for a skilled Wood Boat Framer to help build the structural foundation of our custom boats.

If you enjoy hands‑on work, take pride in craftsmanship, and want to be part of preserving a legendary boat building tradition, we'd love to hear from you.

What You’ll Do

As a Wood Boat Framer, you will build the structural framework that serves as the backbone of our custom wooden boats. Your work will establish the shape, strength, and integrity of each vessel before planking, interiors, and finishing details are added.

Responsibilities include:

  • Construct and install structural components including keels, stems, transoms, frames, chines, battens, stringers, and bulkheads
  • Read and interpret construction drawings, lofting plans, templates, and specifications
  • Measure, cut, shape, and fit wood components using hand tools, power tools, and woodworking equipment
  • Perform laminating, steam bending, scarfing, and other traditional and modern boat building techniques
  • Assemble framing structures while maintaining precise dimensions, alignment, and symmetry
  • Verify frame placement, hull shape, and structural accuracy throughout the build process
  • Collaborate with designers, foremen, and fellow craftsmen to ensure projects meet specifications
  • Install structural reinforcements and backing systems for mechanical, electrical, and interior components
  • Assist with hull fairing and preparation for planking and subsequent construction phases
  • Perform restoration and repair work on classic wooden vessels as needed
  • Inspect completed work to ensure quality, durability, and adherence to design standards
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures
What We’re Looking For
  • Strong woodworking, carpentry, or boat building experience
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, construction drawings, and technical specifications
  • Excellent measuring, layout, and problem‑solving skills
  • Proficiency with woodworking hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment
  • Understanding of structural joinery and construction techniques
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to craftsmanship
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with wooden boat construction or restoration
  • Experience with custom woodworking, cabinetmaking, finish carpentry, or related trades
  • Familiarity with traditional boat building methods such as steam bending and laminating
  • Marine industry experience
Why Join Stan Craft?

At Stan Craft, every boat is built by craftsmen who care deeply about their work. You'll have the opportunity to work alongside talented builders, learn specialized boat building skills, and contribute to creating custom vessels that will be enjoyed for generations.

We offer:

  • A team‑oriented environment focused on craftsmanship and quality
  • Opportunities to learn and develop specialized boat building skills
  • The chance to be part of a company with more than 90 years of history and innovation

If you’re passionate about woodworking, enjoy building with precision, and want to help create exceptional boats, apply today and become part of the Stan Craft legacy.
