Administrative Assistant Personnel Secretary

Assists with Staff and Substitute Teachers

Location:
Hays High School

Purpose

The secretary provides office and clerical support to assist with the efficient operation of the school within the district. Primary responsibility is to organize, facilitate and coordinate the substitute teacher operation at Hays High School. This person will need to be an early riser, as they will be the first person to arrive to school each day, and be the first call from staff pertaining to absences.

Compensation

$14.04 per hour

Qualifications / Requirements
  • Must have high school diploma or equivalency.
  • Must have knowledge of computer usage and application.
  • Must have mathematical and accounting skills involved with handling money.
  • Must be able to follow oral and written direction.
  • Must have the capacity to grasp and adjust to new and changing situations.
  • Must possess excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Must be organized, self-directed, and cooperative.
  • Must maintain confidentiality in all aspects of job performance.
  • Must be courteous, helpful, and willing to be inconvenienced in order to get the job done.
  • Must have the ability to communicate and work effectively and cooperatively with members of the school district and community.

    Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to sit and stand at a workstation for long periods of time.
  • Must have manual dexterity required for consistent and accurate computer input.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 20 lbs.
  • Must be capable of dealing with noise levels common in the school environment.
  • Must be able to perform small maintenance on office equipment (ex. copier, printer).

  • The employee shall remain free of any alcohol or non-prescribed controlled substance abuse in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the district.
  • The employee shall serve as a role model for students in how to conduct themselves as citizens and as responsible, intelligent human beings.
