Location: Hays, KS

Job Description: Merchandiser Assistant performs various position reporting and customer service-related functions for the merchandising department in the Hays, KS office. The position duties will include calling customers, contract entry, validation and pricing of contracts, position reconciliation and account payables/receivable. This position provides logistical/transportation support to merchandisers and other customer service functions that require discretion.

• Provide logistical support for both truck and rail
• Perform customer service duties including calling customers to obtain information
• Prepare various spreadsheets to summarize contract and delivery data for merchandising
• Process billing for grain and transportation payment which may occur after business hours
• Assure accuracy and timeliness of all data
• Assist merchandisers with accounts receivable and accounts payable
• Collaborate with all team members
• Take incoming phone calls from producers and other vendors and assist with transactions

Due to seasonality of industry, this position will require working hours outside of regular business hours

• Two years of experience as merchandising assistant, settlement associate or accounting associate
• Bachelor’s degree preferred, but not necessary depending on work experience
• Problem solving and critical thinking
• Proficiency with Excel and Microsoft Office
• Foundational experience with Agris a plus
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Careful attention to detail
• Knowledge of grain industry practice and terminology
