Location: North Wilkesboro, NC (On-site / Jobsites in the Western NC)
Job Type: Full-time
About ExCo Custom HomesAt ExCo Custom Homes, we build residential spaces where craftsmanship meets flawless execution. We don’t just construct houses; we pride ourselves on building incredible relationships with our clients and a culture where "the little things matter". We value high personal accountability, absolute transparency, and ironclad operational systems. If you are looking to grow your building career alongside a team that values your voice and respects your expertise, you’ll fit right in.
The RoleWe are looking for a hyper‑organized, systematic, and highly accountable Construction Project Manager (PM). In this role, you won’t just check in on jobsites from your truck—you are the driving force at the intersection of our clients, our subcontractors, and our office operations.
You are the perfect fit if you thrive on structure, value absolute precision over quick fixes, are comfortable managing multiple residential builds at once, and believe that a clean jobsite is a non‑negotiable standard of quality.
What You’ll Do- Execute the System: Seamlessly manage day‑to‑day operations across multiple active residential builds, adhering strictly to ExCo quality standards and proven operational workflows.
- Relentless Daily Logs: Maintain immaculate communication by consistently logging comprehensive, accurate daily updates for all jobs—ensuring zero friction for the next day's crews.
- Uphold the Quality Checklist: Prioritize strict quality control. You will perform detailed plan reviews and walk‑throughs, holding subcontractors accountable to the blueprints and refusing to sign off on progress payments until work meets exact tolerances.
- Proactive Client & Sub Connection: Deliver proactive, transparent communication. You'll handle tough conversations early—from delivering budget impact warnings (such as a $20k change order) to owning and fixing mistakes with radical honesty.
- Manage "The Little Things": Maintain spotless, safe jobsites (trash and materials cleared immediately) and actively build rapport with crews by supporting them on the floor when needed.
- Experience: Proven experience in residential construction project management, framing, finish carpentry, or site supervision.
- System-Driven Mindset: A strong preference for following established, proven processes over inventing new rules on the fly.
- Extreme Detail-Orientation: A professional who views a project as 0% done until the last 10% of tedious detail work is complete.
- High Emotional Intelligence: Exceptional communication skills with the ability to hold vendors and subcontractors accountable firmly, fairly, and respectfully.
- Unmatched Accountability: Someone who welcomes clear daily/weekly check-ins and performance metrics—who believes that "iron sharpens iron" without needing to be micro‑managed.
- Strong local subcontractor connections in Wilkes County and the surrounding Carolina mountain regions.
- Deep hands‑on knowledge of framing tolerances, residential grading layouts, or custom finish trim work.
- Competitive compensation packages built around clear performance and stability.
- Direct mentorship from leadership invested heavily in your professional growth.
- A stable, consistent pipeline of projects spanning custom residential homes and spec builds.
- A team culture that protects its reputation and values your craftsmanship over a quick paycheck.
