Location:

Wilson Elementary

180 Working Days per Year, 7.5 hours per day.

* Position Purpose

Under the general supervision of the principal, to facilitate student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills. To support the effective classroom and building-wide execution of the school's action plan including social and emotional learning (SEL). To work to ensure that all interactions with students and adults consistently demonstrate the school's and district's core values and standards for professionalism.

Essential Functions

* Works with administration to establish a safe and secure learning environment for students.

* Assists in developing, implementing, and evaluating intervention programs that address the needs of at-risk students.

* Utilize school-adopted SEL principles and practices with students experiencing behavioral challenges.

* Support the implementation of curricula-specific professional development.

* Use data and collaborate with teachers to develop, monitor, review and modify behavior support plans.

* Facilitate student breaks, check-ins and other interventions as written for students with identified needs.

* Supervises students before and after school; monitors students throughout the day; instructs students in appropriate behavior; disciplines students following established guidelines.

* Monitors and organizes attendance, prepares letters, calls parents, attends meetings as needed, regarding absent or tardy students; provides leadership for attendance improvement efforts.

* Participates as needed in Individual Educational Plan meetings and Student Intervention Teams.

* Liaison to the after-school program in collaboration with school staff.

* Develops plans for emergencies in collaboration with other staff.

* Communicate regularly with families utilizing school-adopted communication systems and platforms.

* Proactively and positively engage with families regularly, seeking first to celebrate student progress, and next to problem-solve around challenging situations.

* Develop and sustain relationships with colleagues and school staff that are positive and collaborative.

* Assume additional responsibilities when necessary and/or when asked.

* Participate in school events and activities.

* Develop and maintain highly effective systems to ensure deadlines are met despite unexpected events or schedule changes.

* Maintain an attitude that is positive and respectful of all students, families, colleagues, leaders, and school partners.

* Demonstrate positivity during meetings / professional development and participate actively, contributing in a way that advances the conversation to a new level and pushes the thinking of others.

* Keep accurate and detailed student discipline records, documenting all reactive discipline measures.

* Analyze elementary school wide behavior data to design responsive student interventions.

* Use data to identify students in need of behavior intervention and/or other intensive support plans.

* Appropriately de-escalate repeat or high-risk issues. Oversee the work completion and provide academic support as needed for students serving In School Suspension (ISS) or on extended reflections.

* Additional Duties

Performs other related tasks as assigned by the principal and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.

* Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students.
