Responsible for maintaining Ellis County’s computer services and equipment supported by the Information Technology Department.
Essential Functions- Configures and troubleshoots PC and peripheral hardware and software
- Responds to desktop trouble-tickets such as issues related to cabling, Uninterruptable Power Supply (UPS) and PC security applications such as anti-virus and operating system updates
- Performs routine troubleshooting and maintenance on PC’s, accounts, applications, and UPS’s
- Documents configurations and maintains enterprise repository of systems documentation
- Manages PC and peripheral hardware repair coverage including recommendations and tracking of systems to be covered via critical contract versus out-of-warranty repair
- Trains and assists computer system users
- Manages County hosted telephone solution and wireless phones and devices
- Analyzes PC and printer usage for the most efficient utilization of system resources
- Performs diagnostics on hardware and notifies vendor if repairs are needed
- Enforces and maintains compliance with all federal, state, and local laws and ordinances
- Performs other duties as assigned or deemed necessary
- Complies with all organizational and departmental policies and procedures
- Operates all job-related equipment, machinery, tools, and other aids as required or needed
- Protects and maintains any confidential information you have access to, whether oral, written, or electronic
- Associate degree in computer information services, business administration with emphasis on computer information or equivalent
- Two years of network installation, programming, configuration and/or maintenance experience preferred.
- Meet and maintain Kansas Criminal Justice Information System’s (KCJIS) access requirements
- Valid driver’s license
- Understands the operation, uses and capabilities of computer equipment
- Knowledgeable in methods and techniques used to maintain and repair computer equipment
- Executes basic knowledge of GIS data collection and analysis, able to work from sketches and diagrams
- Ability to read maintenance manuals and carry out written and oral instructions
- Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work
- Ability to fulfill all duties with minimal supervision and to work independently
- Assess situations rapidly and make logical decisions in a timely manner
- Analyze facts and exercise sound judgment
- Ability to effectively manage projects and multiple priorities simultaneously
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Problem solving and critical thinking skills
- Strong math, spelling, computer, and calculator abilities
- Ability to communicate in a professional, calm and courteous manner with the general public and employees
This position works Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm with a 1 hour lunch break.
