Registered Nurse

Under the supervision of nursing department management, the Registered Nurse (RN) assumes responsibility for the nursing processes of assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation to deliver safe, evidence-based care within their scope of practice.

• Collect and assess initial and ongoing data about the patient's health status

• Initiate and/or revise individualized plans of care with immediate and long-term outcomes for the patient/family, reflecting the input of the entire healthcare team

• Carry out interventions safely and in compliance with policy to facilitate achievement of expected outcomes

• Evaluate patient response to interventions and therapies

• Provide patient education by explaining procedures and medications, and giving instructions at a level the patient can understand

• Address patient questions and concerns; verify informed consent when indicated

• Document and communicate all required components of patient care

• Provide direct patient care in the inpatient perioperative setting

Required:

• Graduation from an accredited Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN), or Nursing Diploma program

• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse in Kansas

• CPR/BCLS certification (required within the first two weeks of employment)

• ACLS certification (preferred; required within six months of employment)

• Knowledge of general nursing theory and practice

• Knowledge of principles, methods, and techniques involved in performing general nursing services and adapting/modifying standards for specific medical cases

• Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills

Preferred:

• Certified Rehabilitation Registered Nurse (CRRN)

• Minimum six months of medical/surgical experience in an acute care setting

Initial and ongoing training in infection control. Trainings may include, but are not limited to, blood borne pathogens, bodily fluids, and biohazardous materials as applicable to the daily work environment.
